Denali Brought to You by the Denali Summer Times

• Denali Winter Times

1. Caribou basking in winter sun.

Along with several other animals, including bison and musk oxen, caribou have survived since the Ice Age. The modern caribou is smaller than its prehistoric cousin. Caribou have large, concave hooves, to support them on tundra and snow, and are known for their hollow hair, which traps air to keep them warm.

2. National Park staff ready park dogs for a patrol into the park on dog sleds.

3. Winter mushing near Stampede Road.

4. High country dog mushing.

5. Musher straightens harnesses before hooking up at the midwinter Cantwell Classic Sled Dog Race across the Denali Highway.
